Clutch is a diaphragm spring, single disc type. On all gas Pickups, operation is mechanically-controlled by cable.

On Diesel Pickups, Montero, and Starion, the clutch operation is controlled by hydraulic release cylinder connected, by a hydraulic line, to clutch master cylinder. Pedal connects to master cylinder by adjustable rod. On all models, the clutch release bearing is permanently lubricated and sealed.
