Test G: Front Wipers Run With Switch Off

NOTE: After repairs, retest system for normal operation.
  1. Test front wiper/washer switch. See FRONT WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is faulty, replace switch. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper motor 6-pin connector and Front Wiper/Washer Amplifier (FWWA) 6-pin connector. FWWA is located on front of left front strut tower. Measure resistance of Blue/Orange wire between FWWA 6-pin connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair Blue/Orange wire short to ground.
  3. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between FWWA 6-pin connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair Brown/White wire short to ground.
  4. Measure resistance of Red wire between FWWA 6-pin connector and front wiper motor 6-pin connector. Measure resistance of Red wire between FWWA 6-pin connector and ground. If resistances are less than 5 ohms between FWWA connector and front wiper motor connector, and more than 10 k/ohms between FWWA connector and ground, replace FWWA. If resistances are not as indicated, repair open or short to ground in Red wire.
