Accelerator Cable

  1. Start the engine and let it warm to normal operating temperature.
  2. Ensure proper idle adjustment. See 1993 ENGINE PERFORMANCE FORD MOTOR CO. - ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  3. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut. See Fig 1 .
  4. Tighten the adjusting nut until the throttle lever starts to move.
  5. Turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise 1.5-2.0 turns.
  6. Tighten the accelerator cable locknut to 71-97 INCH Lbs. (8-11 N. m).
