Cyber System Information Protection: Notes

The insurance market may offer better rates if an organization's cybersecurity posture is well managed. Make sure your organization implements security technologies (such as firewalls and security scanning software) as well as security policies (such as a staff training program) before seeking a cybersecurity insurance policy. Another area of exposure to assess and prioritize for improvement is the cybersecurity state of a fleet's vehicles and their connections with onboard telematic systems. Differences in vehicle electronic systems and telematic systems used for remote monitoring of vehicle information could have different levels of risks associated with data communication and access to the fleet's back-office operating system. One of the biggest security threats to any organization is human error. Continuous security (e.g., safety training) programs will help employees guard against phishing schemes and other common cyber risks. A Fleet Management System (FMS) is a computer information system which is susceptible to the same cybersecurity risks as any computer system. The FMS is the connection between cloud, fleet server, maintenance computer, and truck. Fleet managers should remain aware of all the possible interactions between FMS devices and the vendors which provide and support those connected devices.
