Purpose And Scope

The purpose and scope of this Recommended Practice (RP) is to provide guidelines for the use of bar code technology for parts identification and inventory tracking for the trucking industry. These guidelines are intended to encourage and expedite the use of bar coding in the packaging of parts by suppliers, including bulk packs. These guidelines have been established to provide the minimum performance criteria for the use of this technology.
