General
The fill level sensors calculate the height of the fuel fill level in the fuel tank and send voltage signals to the fuel pump control unit.
The fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (1) is located in the fuel tank at the fuel delivery module.
Function
The fuel tank fuel level indicator fill level sensor (1) consists of the following components:
- Lever
- Float
- Double potentiometer (two sliding contacts)
Both sliding contacts of the double potentiometer are connected in parallel.
The float changes the position of the lever (with the double potentiometer) in line with the fuel level. This causes a change in the electrical resistance of the double potentiometer, thus also changing the output voltage, which can then be used to measure the fuel level.
The fuel pump control unit analyzes the signals from the fill level sensors and sends suitable signals to the combustion engine control unit.
