Cautions To Exercise When Reviewing Output

Some programs assume standard accessories, so be sure you input your accessory list if you do not use standard accessories, such as power steering or air conditioning.

Ensure that the simulation used the data you supplied. Any variations between the data input and your actual operations will affect the accuracy of the predicted results.

Evaluations are best used to compare one set of specifications to another, not as predictions of performance.

Simulations do not consider factors of increased resistance forces affecting fuel consumption, such as increased air or rolling resistance or horsepower loss caused by adverse weather, high altitude, or increased fuel consumption due to blended fuel. These factors can vary by as much as 20 percent between summer and winter.

Important output data to consider:

  1. Startability (gradeability at clutch engagement) - Is it sufficient for your needs?
  2. Gradeability (% grade that can be pulled in a given gear). Carefully evaluate gradeability at both geared speed and at peak torque - Is it sufficient for your operations?
  3. Gear splits (RPM drop between gears) - Will the driver have to shift too often?
