Function requirements, general 

IMPORTANT The CDI control unit or the ME-SFI [ME] control unit forwards the "Engine running" signal over the engine CAN to the powertrain control unit over the peripherals CAN to the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit. The EZS control unit sends the circuit status of "circuit 15" as well as the "Engine running" signal to the SAM control unit via the interior CAN.

The ventilation, heating, air conditioning functions are actuated centrally over the SAM control unit. The individual components are operated using the corresponding controls.
