Simulator Selection

TMC does not endorse any one computer simulation over another. All are designed to indicate relative truck performance. It must be understood that no program can accurately predict exact real world performance. That is not their function. All programs will, however, indicate the relative performance to be expected from any set of specifications compared with any other set. For that reason, it is important that you select one computer program and use only that program to make comparisons.

Each program will allow you to change engine ratings and speeds, select from available transmission and axle ratios and change vehicle load and operating information. As long as variables are kept within a program, relative results will be accurate. Informed choices can then be made.

If one set of inputs is used in one supplier's program, and a different set is used in another, no comparisons should be drawn between the variables. Results will not be consistent. Since simulations can use different equations or constants in equations, even identical input in two different programs can give results that should not be compared. Choose one program and stay with it for all comparisons.
