Location
The all-wheel drive reduction switch is located at the right next to the steering wheel.
Task
The all-wheel drive reduction switch can be used to deactivate or activate the transmission ratio when the vehicle is at a standstill. The resistance-coded signal is received by the all-wheel drive control unit (N45).
The transmission ratio can only be shifted when the all-wheel drive is engaged.
If the transmission ratio is activated, the instrument cluster's (A1) LOW RANGE indicator lamp (A1 e37) lights up until the activation process is completed. The LOW RANGE indicator lamp then lights up permanently.
If the transmission ratio cannot be activated, the LOW RANGE indicator lamp flashes 3 times.
