Lamp-To-Connector Interface Guidelines: General

The design of this connector must follow that of SAE J2577. Installation, design and performance requirements follow.

The lamps location, environmental exposure and mounting requirements must be reviewed as part of the basis for determining how the connection system will interface to the lamp; and, as new lighting technologies are developed, this RP must be reviewed and reevaluated to determine the appropriate connection system to incorporate into the vehicle.

TMC anticipates that the benefits of this recommended practice for operators will include:

• Reduced complexity of service tools
• Reduced parts inventory
• Reduced maintenance
• Greater interchangeability
• Reduced overall lifecycle costs
• Improved performance of the interface
