Urethane Application

  1. Hold the application gun perpendicular to ensure successful application.
  2. Start at the center of the windshield.
  3. Go slowly around corners.
  4. Apply 1" to 1-1/4" bead [25-32 mm], some manufacturers require 3/8" bead - check OEM and manufacturers recommendations.
  5. After completing bead perimeter, check to ensure there is a continuous bead [paddle in one direction with a spatula to ensure bead consistency].
  6. Install glass with in 10 minutes - urethane open time. Open time is slightly less in hot/humid conditions - expect eight minutes.
  7. Apply glass gently to the pinch weld to ensure proper positioning - adjusting quickly before the urethane sets. Press down firmly for full contact.
  8. Leave windows open for awhile so that door closing [with closed windows] doesn't cause pressure to affect the urethane bond.
