Check Compression Pressure - Ar01.00-D-1201TSV

  Risk of death  . Death may occur if body parts are drawn into rotating vehicle parts. Do not insert your hand into rotating parts.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Secure area of rotating vehicle components against unauthorized access.

  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Start engine and warm up to operating temperature. IMPORTANT Operating temperature is reached at an oil temperature of approx. 80 °C.
IMPORTANT Only check compression pressure for an engine is at operating temperature.
 
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
3 Remove glow plugs.   AR15.20-D-4111TSV
  Preparation     
4 Disconnect engine wiring harness electrical connector 1 (X26/46x1).    
5 Attach connection line (4) for the compression pressure recorder (1) to engine wiring harness electrical connector 1 (X26/46x1). IMPORTANT To this end, insert suitable connection line at pin 8 (arrow).

6 Connect compression pressure recorder (1) to jump-start connection point electrical connector (X4/43). SPECIAL TOOL Compression tester Fig 4
7 Crank engine with compression pressure recorder (1). IMPORTANT To this end, connect connection line to compression pressure recorder (1).
IMPORTANT To remove combustion residues from the cylinders.

INSPECT Check     
8 Manually screw screw-in piece (3) into respective glow plug hole. SPECIAL TOOL Screw-in fitting Fig 3
9 Attach compression pressure recorder (1) with adapter (2) to screw-in piece (3). SPECIAL TOOL Compression tester Fig 1

10 Check compression pressure. IMPORTANT To this end, crank engine over the contact switch on compression pressure recorder (1).
IMPORTANT Turn engine through at least eight revolutions.
Installation tolerance or new value of compression pressure
*BE01.00-N-1001-04TS 
    Wear limit or limit value of compression pressure *BE01.00-N-1002-04TS 
    Compression pressure, permissible difference between the cylinders *BE01.00-N-1003-04TS 
    SPECIAL TOOL Compression tester
If minimum compression pressure is not reached or the permissible difference between the individual cylinders is exceeded,

Check cylinder leakage.

11 Remove compression pressure recorder (1) with adapter (2) from screw-in piece (3). IMPORTANT Change compression pressure recorder (1) over to next cylinder to be checked.

12 Remove screw-in piece (3). SPECIAL TOOL Screw-in fitting Fig 3
13 Perform check of additional cylinders in same manner.    
  Refinish     
14 Remove compression pressure recorder (1) from jump-start connection point electrical connector (X4/43). SPECIAL TOOL Compression tester Fig 4

16 Remove compression pressure recorder (1) from screw-in piece (3). SPECIAL TOOL Compression tester Fig 4

17 Remove screw-in piece (3). SPECIAL TOOL Screw-in fitting Fig 3
18 Connect engine wiring harness electrical connector 1 (X26/46x1). IMPORTANT To do so, remove connection line.

INSTALLING Install
