Perform Function Test Of Trailer Socket - Ar31.19-D-1201-01TS

IMPORTANT If called for by the findings report for affected component parts during each test step, suitable repair measures are to be conducted to rectify the malfunction.

The following test steps are conducted on a trailer socket 13-pin.

  1. Mount test box to trailer socket.

    IMPORTANT Use corresponding adapter for 7-pin trailer socket.

  2. Switch on ignition.
  3. Check left turn signal for proper operation by switching on and off.
  4. Check right turn signal for proper operation by switching on and off.
  5. Check hazard warning system for proper operation by switching on and off.
  6. Check standing light for proper operation by switching on and off.
  7. Check backup light for proper operation by engaging reverse gear.
  8. Check brake light for proper operation by pressing the brake pedal.
  9. Switch on rear fog lamp.

    IMPORTANT Only the rear fog lamp on the test box may light up. The rear fog lamp on the vehicle must not light up.

  10. Simulate failure of rear fog lamp on trailer.

    IMPORTANT The rear fog lamp on the vehicle must light up.

  11. Switch off rear fog lamp.
  12. Switch on turn signal indicator (left or right).
  13. Simulate failure of switched-on turn signal indicator.

    IMPORTANT The flashing frequency of the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster must double.

  14. Switch off turn signal indicator (left or right).
  15. Check 2nd turn signal indicator in similar manner.

    IMPORTANT To do so, repeat operation steps  , to  , for 2nd turn signal indicator.

  16. Switch off ignition.
  17. Check constant voltage connection (tml. 30) to trailer socket.
  18. Remove test box (1) and, if used, adapter for 7-pin trailer socket.
