	Remove/install
1	Remove lower engine compartment lining.	Model 907 with code XM1 (Noise reduction)	AR61.20-D-1105TS
2	Remove respective ball head (2).		AR46.40-D-7242TS
3	Remove counternut from tie rod.
4	Remove inner clamp (4).	Commercially available devices/tools  Assembly pliers for clamps Install new inner clamp (4).
5	Remove outer clamp (3).	Hose clamp pliers	Fig 1
6	Remove boot (1).	Clean contact surfaces of boot (1) on tie rod and at steering gear and coat lightly with lubricant. Check boot (1) for damage.

	Check
	Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid.	Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses.	AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
7	Check toothed rack for corrosion and the steering gear for leak tightness. Notes on evaluating leakages	If corresponding findings are present, ↓ Replace steering gear.	AH00.00-N-0011-01A

8	Check axial joint of tie rod for play.	If corresponding findings are present, ↓ Replace tie rod with axial joint.
