Remove/Install Engine Oil Level Check Switch - AR18.40-P-5113MND

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1.1 Remove center engine compartment paneling Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR61.20-P-1105LWE
1.2 Remove lower center and rear engine compartment paneling Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR61.20-P-1105LWE
2 Remove oil suction pipe Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MND
3 Remove oil pan bottom section Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7555MND
4 Unlock and disconnect electrical connector of outer engine wiring harness on intermediate housing (6) Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MND
    Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MNC
5 Unclip retaining clip (5) from oil pan (4)    
6 Remove screw/bolt (2) and take out intermediate housing (6) from oil pan (4)    
7 Remove screw/bolts (3) and remove oil level check switch (1)    
8 Replace old sealing ring with new sealing ring on intermediate housing (6) When reusing the oil level check switch (1).  
INSTALLING Install     
9 Position oil level check switch (1) and screw in screws/bolts (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) Screw/bolt, oil level switch to bracket *BA18.40-P-1001-02C 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) Screw/bolt, oil level switch to oil pan top section *BA18.40-P-1006-02C 
10 Position intermediate housing (6) with a new sealing ring in oil pan and screw in screw/bolt (2) N Screw/bolt, oil level switch connector to oil pan top section *BA18.40-P-1003-02C 
11 Clip retaining clip (5) onto oil pan (4)    
12 Insert together and lock electrical connector of outer engine wiring harness on intermediate housing (6) Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MND
    Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MNC
13 Install oil suction pipe Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7500MND
14 Install oil pan bottom section Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR01.45-P-7555MND
15 Check engine oil level and correct if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-1811MP 
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
16 Carry out engine test run, checking the engine for leaktightness and proper operation    
17.1 Install lower center engine compartment lining Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR61.20-P-1105LWE
17.2 Install lower center and rear engine compartment paneling Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) AR61.20-P-1105LWE
18 Read out and erase fault memory
