3	Unscrew screws/bolts (1) from heat shield (5)	Bolt/nut for shield attachment	*BA09.40-P-1011-01W
4	Remove heat shield (5) downwards
5	Detach wiring harness at starter (M1)		AR15.30-P-7100-03MND
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
		Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
6	Unscrew screws/bolts (4) and remove starter (M1) downwards	Bolt, starter to crankcase/transmission	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
7	Remove the charge air cooler and place with attached coolant line to one side	When replacing the starter (M1).

8	Turn engine at the center bolt of crankshaft in direction of engine rotation and check the starter ring gear on clutch plate for wear and damage	Socket wrench bit If wear or damage present ↓ Replace drive plate.	Fig 2

9	Install in the reverse order
	Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and Risk of poisoning  caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. 	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 10	Perform an engine test run, checking for proper operation of starter (M1)
