Overview

This document contains information on:

General

The purging pressure sensor (4) detects the existing pressure in the full load purge line (7) for the purging of the activated charcoal canister.

The purging is enabled if there is a sufficient pressure difference between the intake air system and full load purge line (7).

Function

The boost pressure is measured via a ceramic measuring element that is applied with the prevailing air pressure (ambient pressure) by a diaphragm. This pressure impingement causes the electric capacity of the measuring element to change. The capacity change is converted into an electrical output signal of 0.5 V to 4.5 V and transmitted to the combustion engine control unit.
