Torque distribution in transfer case
The dual planet gear set acts as a planetary gear differential between the front and rear axle. This then distributes the engine torque.
The gear ratio is designed so that 55 % of the engine torque is transmitted to the rear axle and 45 % is transmitted to the front axle.
