Purpose And Scope

This Recommended Practice (RP) was prepared in keeping with TMC's purpose of improving equipment and maintenance, increasing safety, and reducing costs. It was prepared to reduce the possibility of crossover line ruptures which result in fuel spills that may pose safety problems and cause contamination of road and right-of-way surfaces, and which lead to environmental clean-ups and possibly fines.

This RP applies to all diesel-powered trucks and tractors which are (1) used primarily on-highway and (2) use crossover lines as part of their fuel systems.
