Planetary Gear Set, Component Description - GF28.50-D-1200TSC
Model 907
with code ZG1 (Engageable all-wheel drive)
except code ZG3 (Engageable all-wheel drive with gear reduction)
Location
General
The planetary gear set acts as a differential and therefore compensates for differences in rotational speed between the front and rear axle.
Task
When the all-wheel drive is engaged, the input torque of the transfer case is distributed by the planetary gear set by 67 % to the rear axle and to 33 % to the front axle.
Structure
The planetary gear set consists of the following components:
- Ring gear
- Planet carrier
- Planetary gears
- Sun gear
Function
If the all-wheel drive is engaged, the transfer case actuator motor (M46/2) rotates the selector drum (5). The contour on the selector drum (5) causes the sliding sleeve (3) to be moved through the shift fork (4). The sliding sleeve (3) connects the sun gear to the chain drive for the front wheel drive.
