Purpose And Scope

This Recommended Practice (RP) offers guidelines for standardizing the layout and labeling of in-cab controls for refuse vehicles so that operators may be familiar with control placement, function and accessibility regardless of vehicle manufacturer.

This RP covers:

• control function labeling
• control panel layout
• graphical symbology

It does not cover:

• controls located outside the cab,
• camera systems
• scale systems
• radios
• global positioning satellite (GPS) systems.
