Replacement/Modification Of INI Files

It is the responsibility of the vendor to manage the use and compatibility of vendor specific INI files placed within the application target subdirectory for startup information.

Initialization files used by several vendors must preserve the contents of the original INI file, unless the contents are specific to the vendor modifying the file. This will ensure that the INI file contents will remain compatible with another vendors' requirements. If the file does not exist on the machine, the vendor is free to install the file, and populate the contents of the file with their specific information, provided the industry-agreed format is adhered to.

In all cases, the vendor is responsible for ensuring compatibility with previously installed INI files with the same name. If a similarly named INI file is encountered during installation, the install application must determine if the new file is more recent and/or compatible with the current file, with appropriate action taken.
