Non-Proprietary Files

The application installer should properly check the version of non-proprietary files and files shared by other applications to ensure the latest file versions are installed. Installing a vendor application should not result in the installation of an older version of any file that is not produced by the vendor.

TMC recommends that all replaced files be placed in a backup folder in a subdirectory within the vendor application's specific subdirectory.

Example:

Vendor name: "VendorX" 

Application name: "EngineDiagnostics" 

Example Placement:

"\ProgramFiles\VendorX\EngineDiagnostics\Replaced Files"
