Selection of direction of travel
The powertrain control unit requests the direction of travel according to the selector lever position from the power electronics control unit. The power electronics control unit controls the electric machine with 3-phase alternating voltage via the integrated power inverter. Reversing for drive range "R" is realized in this case through reversing the direction of rotation of the electric machine.
The current direction of travel is shown on the driver display.
The drive range "N" is not realized by opening a coupling, but rather, it is simulated my means of corresponding actuation of the electric machine.
For vehicles with two electric machines, the above explanations apply for each machine.
