Purpose:
Load tester for loading the vehicle on-board network for the alternator charge current checking.

This criteria catalogue serves to provide support for selection of variants of workshop equipment available on the free market. It just describes the minimum requirement for fulfilling the Mercedes-Benz standard. There is therefore no reference made to manufacturer specific equipment or devices.
NOTE:
These testers are not approved by Mercedes-Benz for obtaining findings on the starter battery.
Minimum requirements:
- The load tester is suitable for a direct voltage of up to 30 V.
- The load allows itself to be set steplessly or in steps of a maximum of 0.5 kW.
- The engageable load is at least 2.1 kW for a duty cycle of at least 15 seconds.
- The flow of current is interrupted during clamping on and disconnecting the tester on the on-board electrical system.
The usual designations for volt amp(s) tester on the free market include: load tester, Carbon Pile Load, battery tester or electronic load.
