Location 

The left front door control unit is located on the door module behind the door lining.

Tasks 

The left front door control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 
• Transmitting signals 

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• Left front door LIN (LIN B5) 
• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Direct line 

The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:

• Left front door rotary tumbler switch (A85s1)
• Left front power window motor Hall sensor (M103)
• Vertical inclination adjustment potentiometer (M21/1r2) (with CODE 275 (Memory package))
• Horizontal inclination adjustment potentiometer (M21/1r3) (with CODE 275 (Memory package))
• Trunk lid release button (S15/1) (Model 205.0/1/3/4 except CODE 881 (Remote trunk closing))
• Driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (S15/3) (Model 205.0/1/3 with CODE 881 (Remote trunk closing) or Model 205.2, 253 with CODE 890 (EASY-PACK liftgate))
• Refueling intention detection switch (S62/20) (hybrid vehicle or Model 253.99)
• Left front door central locking inside door handle switch (S85/5)
• Fully electrically driver door trailer hitch switch (S142/3) (Model 253 with code 550 (trailer hitch))

Left front door LIN 

The signals for the following components are read in via the left front door LIN:

• Driver-side power window and outside mirror adjustment switch group (S20):
  • Left front power window switch (S20s1)
  • Right front power window switch (S20s2)
  • Left rear power window switch (S20s3) (Model 205.0/1/2/4, 253)
  • Right rear power window switch (S20s4) (Model 205.0/1/2/4, 253)
  • Rear side window child safety lock switch (S20s5) (Model 205.0/1/2, 253)
  • Outside mirror fold-in/out switch (S20s6) (with CODE 500 (Electric folding outside mirror))
  • Left outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s7)
  • Right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s8)
  • Outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s9)
• Left front seat adjustment switch group (S22) (with CODE 221 (Electrical adjustable left driver seat) or CODE 275 (Memory package)):
  • Left front head restraint adjustment switch (S22s1) (with CODE 275 (Memory package))
  • Left front seat inclination adjustment switch (S22s2)
  • Left front seat fore/aft adjustment switch (S22s3)
  • Left front seat height adjustment switch (S22s4)
  • Left front seat backrest adjustment switch (S22s5)

  • Left front seat heater switch (S51/1s2) (with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger) or CODE 873 (Seat heater for driver and front passenger))
  • Left front seat ventilation switch (S51/1s3) (with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger))

Interior CAN 

The left front door control unit reads in the following signals via the interior CAN:

• Terminal status of terminal 15
• 'Reverse gear engaged' signal
• Open/close central locking (CL) request
• PRE-SAFE® adjustment request (with CODE 299 (PRE-SAFE® system))
• Move to memory position request (with CODE 275 (Memory package))
• Convenience feature request
• Crash signal

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

• Left front door additional door lock actuator motor (with code (A85m4) with code 885 Extended theft protection))
• Left front door exit and warning lamp (E17/3) (Model 205.0/1/2, 253 with code 876 (Interior Light Package))
• Left front door warning lamp (E17/19) and left front door exit lamp (E17/72) (Model 205.3/4 with code 876 (Interior Light Package))
• Left front door outer door handle illumination (E17/7) (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
• Left front door handle illumination (E17/11) (with CODE 876 (Interior lights package))
• Left front door ambient lighting (E17/43) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with + code 877 (Ambient lighting))
• Left front door handle ambient lighting (E17/55) (Model 205 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018, Model 253 except 253.99 with code 877 (Ambient lighting))
• Left front door pocket lighting (E23/1) (Model 205.3/4 with code 877 (Ambient lighting) up to 01.03.2018)
• Left front power window motor
• Left outside mirror (M21/1):

  • Readiness and warning display for left Blind Spot Assist (M21/1e2) (with code 23P (Driving Assistance Package), with code 234 (Blind Spot Assist) or code 237 (Active Blind Spot Assist))
  • Mirror dimming (M21/1h1) (with CODE 249 (Automatically dimming mirror))
  • Vertical inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/1m1)
  • Horizontal inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/1m2)
  • Electric fold-in/out outside mirror motor (M21/1m3) (with code 500 (Electric folding outside mirror))
  • Mirror heater (M21/1r1)

The left front door control unit supplies all connected control elements with c. 58d.

The left front door control unit supplies the ambient lighting in the door with voltage.

Transmitting signals 

The left front door control unit sends signals over the following connections:

• Left front door LIN 
• Interior CAN

Model 205 as of model year 2019 with code 877 (ambient lighting)

Model 253.99 with code 877 (ambient lighting)

The left front door control unit forwards the actuation of the ambient lighting in the door from the ambient lighting control unit (N162) via the left front door ambient lighting LIN (LIN B30).

Left front door LIN 

The left front door control unit transmits the following signals via the left front door LIN:

• Left or right outside mirror adjustment switch selection status indication
• Status indication for child seat lock, rear side window (Model 205.0/1/2, 253)
• Status indication for seat heater (with code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger) or code 873 (Seat heater for driver and front passenger))
• Status indication for seat ventilation (with code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger))

Interior CAN 

The left front door control unit reads in the following signals via the interior CAN:

• Status of left front door (open/closed)
• Adjusting right outside mirror request
• Opening/closing request for power windows
• Convenience feature mode (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO))

  Convenience feature direction (with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO))

• Seat ventilation request (with code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger))
• Seat heater request (with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger) or CODE 873 (Seat heater for driver and front passenger))
• Seat adjustment request (with code 221 (Electrically adjustable left driver seat) or code 275 (Memory package))
