General 

The electric machine can act as a motor or as an alternator. The electric motors operate on the drivetrain and supply energy for driving or energy for charging the high-voltage battery. Various operating statuses result from these options, each with a different energy flow.

The driver receives information on the energy flow and on the state of charge of the high-voltage battery through the head unit/instrument cluster display cluster or the central display.

Function 

Depending on equipment installed, a vehicle will have one or two electric machines. These can be activated individually or together and work as a motor or alternator respectively. Various operating statuses result from these options, each with a different energy flow.

Accordingly, fewer operating statuses are possible in a vehicle with only one electric machine than in a vehicle with all-wheel drive.
