Removal:
- Seal ring must be removed from the injector well.
- Injector must not be disassembled.
- Before cleaning, the bore to the combustion chamber must be closed off.
Cleaning the injector well and injector seat in the case of slight carbonization
- Use round brush with wool head 651 589 01 68 00; closing off the combustion chamber bore is hereby not required.
- Before each reuse of the round brush with wool head 651 589 01 68 00, dirt and grease residue must be removed with a rag.
- When using the round brush with wool head 651 589 01 68 00, use of a cordless screwdriver is permissible.
- The use of cutting tools is not permissible.
- Repeat the cleaning operation until the injector well and injector seat are metallic bright.
- Cover/close off injector well after cleaning.
If this does not provide a satisfactory result, then proceed with the cleaning method for severe carbonization.
Cleaning the injector well and injector seat in the case of severe carbonization
- Use of machines in not permissible for this cleaning method.
- Clean injector well with cylinder brush 668 589 00 68 00.
- Before cleaning the injector seat, the bore to the combustion chamber must be closed off with the stop plug from cleaning set 611 589 00 68 00.
- Clean injector seat with round brush 611 589 00 68 00.
- Insert round brush carefully and cautiously.
- Repeat the cleaning operation until the injector well and injector seat are metallic bright.
- Blow out cleaning residues with air.
Injector
- The use of cutting tools is not permissible.
- Injector area (A) can be cleaned with a brass wire brush.
- Never clean nozzle tip using a brass wire brush.
- Thoroughly clean injector again with non-woven cloth.
- Remove fiber residues from non-woven cloth.
- When an impact extractor is used, piezo injectors must not be used again and have to be replaced.
Tool
- Thoroughly clean round brushes after use.
The bristle length
on round brush 611 589 00 68 00 is adjustable. Bristle length should be 3 mm. The brush surface can be ground flat if necessary.
Installation:
- Injector area (B) must be greased.
- Special grease must be applied thinly and evenly.
- Always replace sealing ring between the injector and combustion chamber.
- The sealing ring and its contact surfaces must be grease-free .
- Always replace mounting bolts.
- It must be possible to screw in mounting bolts easily.
Recut thread if necessary.
