Tire Pressure Monitor Systems: Notes

C-Class vehicles can be equipped with either of two types of tire pressure monitor: Direct Type, which uses tire pressure sensors installed at the wheels, or Indirect Type, which uses the ABS to determine tire pressure and does not use sensors on the wheels.

• Direct Type
  • Tire Pressure Monitor: 2008-17
• Indirect Type
  • Run Flat Indicator: 2008-09 (Canada only)
  • Tire Pressure Loss Warning System: 2010-14 (Canada only), 2015-17 (All Models)

Under the following conditions, either system may not function properly:

• Snow chains are mounted to the vehicle.
• Winter road conditions prevail.
• Vehicle is driven on a loose surface (i.e., sand or gravel).
• If vehicle is driven in a very sporty manner (involving rapid acceleration or high speeds in curves).
• The tire pressure suddenly drops due to bursting or other causes.
