Overheating/pinging protection, function - GF07.61-P-4027CY
ENGINE 272.947 in MODEL 204.0/2 up to Model Year 2008
The overheating/knock protection protects against engine damage and overheating damage of catalytic converters for a thermal overload.
The level of heat output by the cooling system is mainly dependent on the fan speed, vehicle speed, outside temperature and coolant temperature.
To avoid exceeding the maximum permissible coolant temperature, the heat generated by combustion and supplied to the cooling system and thus the engine output must be restricted.
Here the throttle valve is no longer fully opened by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10). The fuel injection quantity is reduced according to the lower air mass.
