CDI limiting maximum engine speed, function - GF07.16-P-3007IC
ENGINE 647.961 in MODEL 211
ENGINE 648.960 in MODEL 220
ENGINE 648.961 in MODEL 211
To protect the engine and drive train, the engine speed is limited by switching off the fuel injectors.
The CDI control unit detects the engine speed via the crankshaft position sensor signal.
- The maximum engine speed is limited to protect the torque convertor (with automatic transmission)
In order to protect the torque converter in selector lever positions P and N (no power flow) from excessive static internal pressure, the maximum engine speed is limited to approx. 4700 rpm.
- Limitation of maximum engine speed in idle
In order to protect the engine from the consequences of impermissibly high engine speeds, the engine speed is limited to 4700 rpm.
- Limitation of maximum engine speed in driving mode
In order to protect the engine from the consequences of impermissibly high engine speeds, the engine speed is limited to 4800 rpm.
The driving mode is detected from the speed signal by the ESP control unit.
