Fuel gage sensor function - GF47.10-P-3001-03AM

The fuel level sensor is a float-and-lever sensor with two wiper contacts (potentiometers).

The float changes the position of the lever with the potentiometers in line with the fuel level. This changes the resistance value of the potentiometer and thereby influences the output voltage, which is a measure of the fuel level.

IMPORTANT

Both sliding contacts of the potentiometer are switched in parallel.

Models 211, 219

Each fuel tank chamber has a fuel level sensor (left tank half fuel level sensor (B4/1) and right tank half fuel level sensor (B4/2)). Both voltage signals are transmitted separately to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module, (N10/2) which processes the signals accordingly and transmits them to the instrument cluster over the CAN data bus (A1).

Models 215, 220, 230, 463

The fuel tank has a fuel level sensor.B4

The fuel tank is "full" at a resistance value of about 0 Ω and "empty" at about 100 Ω.
