Transmission 722.9 in model 203
The selector lever is moved and positioned in the shift gate, which is not visible to the driver. All selector lever positions are recognized by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5), then coded and forwarded via the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) to the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) control unit (Y3/8n4).
Selector lever positions "P", "R", "N" and "D" are forwarded mechanically using a shift rod to the selection range sensor (VGS) (Y3/8s1) parallel to transmission via CAN-C.
The shift ranges "1", "2", "3", "4", "5" and "6", up to which the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) permits an upshift of the automatic transmission, can be shifted via a sideways movement of the selector lever in selector lever position "D" (touch shift).
