	Remove trims in interior only on the corresponding window airbag side.
1.1	Remove edge guard on sliding/pop-up roof cutout	Only with electric glass sliding/tilting roof, Code 414a.
2	Remove front overhead control panel.	Remove cover on switch for electric sliding/ pop-up roof, glass version. Pull out plug. Press retaining clips for overhead control panel control module together. Simultaneously press overhead control panel control module toward front and pull downward.	AR82.20-P-1100GH

3	Remove rubber front door seal in area of A-pillar (top of door) and B-pillar	Only remains fastened at bottom of door.
4	Remove paneling from A-pillar		AR68.30-P-4050GH
5	Remove front folding handle	Open flipper handle covers and unscrew screws.
6	Remove sun visors		AR68.60-P-5480GH
7	Remove second mount for sun visor	Open cover, press retaining clip together and pull out downward.
8	Remove rear door rubber seal in area of B-pillar (top of door) and C-pillar	Only remains fastened at bottom of door.
9	Detach upper paneling on B-pillar	Do not unscrew screw for seat belt end fitting on seat. After removing bottom paneling, loosen screws for upper B-pillar paneling and guide downward along seat belt.	AR68.30-P-4700GH
10	Remove cover for holding points of load net	Unclip at the side.
11	Remove rear folding handle	With integral coat hanger hook: open covers and unscrew screws.
12	Remove dome lamp behind rear folding handle	Remove glass cover and unscrew screw.
13	Remove cover for holding points of load net in load compartment	Unclip at the side.
14.1	Remove folding handle in load compartment	Only if fitted. Open flipper handle covers and unscrew screws.
15.1	Remove coat hook / mount for 3rd row of seats in load compartment	Only if present Open cover and remove screw. Press clips together and press coat hook / mount for 3rd row of seats upward. Pull out coat hook / mount for 3rd row of seats.
16	Remove paneling from C-pillar	For third seat row: do not unscrew screw for seat belt end fitting on floor. Pull off upper D-pillar paneling and guide downward along seat belt.	AR68.30-P-4490GH
17	Remove upper screw for D-pillar paneling on opposite side
18	Detach rear headliner at roof	Remove plastic clip and detach Velcro closures.
19	Lower headliner until it is supported on front seat
20	Tilt front seat backrest toward rear until sufficient access to window airbag is available	Do not tilt backrest back too far to prevent headliner from kinking.
21	Disconnect ground cable of battery	To protect from unintentional contact, insulate cable lug of ground lead.	AR54.10-P-0003A
22	Unplug plug from left rear window airbag ignition squib (R12/22) or from right rear window airbag ignition squib (R12/23)	Carefully pull both sides of the plug to open the locking mechanism, then pull the plug out of the airbag. Installation:  Ensure that the plug is released before it is inserted.
23	Unscrew bolt (1) at retaining strap (2)
24	Unscrew screws (3) from rear bracket
25	Unscrew screw (4) from center and front bracket (5)
26	Unscrew screws (6) from the A-pillar
27	Release window airbag (8) out of bracket (5)	Press longitudinal wedge into the gap (7) and lever downward.

29.1	Make airbag units unusable	Only if airbag unit is replaced.	AR91.60-P-0611A
30	Install in the reverse order
31	Carry out diagnosis
	Airbag (AB) electrical system test	Up to 30.11.99. As of 1.12.99: Perform diagnosis with STAR DIAGNOSIS.	AD91.60-P-6000GH
