Crankshaft position sensor function - GF07.04-P-4116-01HB
as of 12/94
The crankshaft position and engine speed are detected with no contact required. With the engine running, the leading and trailing edges of the flywheel segments (a) generates an alternating voltage (through induction) in the crankshaft position sensor (L5/6).
Higher engine speed = higher voltage
The number of segments (a) equals the number of cylinders in the engine.
