Speed Sensor Interchangeability

  1. Turn ignition on. Set rotary switch successively to positions 4 (left front wheel), 5 (right front wheel) and 6 (rear differential). Connect a DVOM to positive and negative terminals indicated on tester. Adjust DVOM to measure AC volts. Spin respective wheel at approximately one revolution per second.
  2. DVOM should indicate approximately .1 volt as respective wheel is rotated. If DVOM indicates zero volts, check coaxial plug and cable connector for poor contact. Check wiring harness for open and shorts. Replace defective speed sensor, or adjust wheel bearing because of excessive play.
