Symptom Diagnosis

Symptom checks cannot be used properly unless problem occurs while vehicle is being tested. To reduce diagnostic time, ensure steps in the TESTS W/CODES article were performed before diagnosing a symptom. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES selection below.

• For 2.5L testing with codes: TESTS W/CODES - 2.5L DIESEL
• For 3.5L testing with codes: TESTS W/CODES - 3.5L DIESEL

The following symptoms are available for diagnosis.

• Engine Hard To Start
• Engine Surges At Idle
• Engine Has Rough Idle When Warm
• Engine Misfiring Under Load
• Engine Has Low Power
• Excessive Fuel Consumption
• Engine Will Not Shut Off
• White Or Blue Exhaust Smoke
• Incorrect Idle Speed
• Engine Speed Will Not Increase
• Fuel Injection Pump Runs Hot
