Cis-E System: Notes

The Continuous Injection System Electronic (CIS-E) system consists of A/C compressor control unit, airflow sensor position indicator (potentiometer), Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS), deceleration shutoff microswitch, EGR temperature sensor, Electrohydraulic Actuator (EHA), electronic CIS-E control unit, EZL ignition control unit, Hall-Effect speed sensor, heated oxygen sensor (Lambda control), idle speed air valve, intake air temperature sensor, overvoltage protection relay, transmission upshift delay relay, and Throttle Valve Switch (TVS). See Figure .

Fuel metering is achieved through CIS-E injection system. System is basic CIS injection with electronic controls added for mixture correction. Federal and California CIS-E control units are not interchangeable.

Spark timing is determined by CIS-E control unit and EZL electronic ignition system. Characteristics for various engine load conditions are stored in ignition control module. see Figure for component locations.
