SERVICE INFORMATION

Use only spark plug wrench 102 589 02 09 00 with the chamfered-lip retainer magnet (see Fig 1 , arrow) for removing or installing spark plugs. The magnet on wrenches delivered before 5/88 do not have a chamfer. Using this wrench can cause damage at the ceramic insulator of the spark plugs.

We recommend complete replacement of this spark plug wrench.

NOTE: Spark plug wrench part no. 120 589 02 09 00 cannot be used on engines 102 and 103.

There is a 1/2" drive socket on the top of the spark plug wrench for attaching a torque wrench when torqueing the spark plugs (20-30 Nm). See Fig 2 .

It is also possible to replace only the lower pan of the spark plug wrench with a conversion kit consisting of a spark plug socket, spring and pan-head screw. After the modification, change the pan number of the spark plug wrench to 120 589 02 09 00.
