Steering Angle Sensor Inspection

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Mazda CX-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  1. Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
  2. Connect the plus (+) end of a tester to steering angle sensor terminal A and the minus (-) end of the tester to terminal B (ground).

  3. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  4. Turn the steering wheel to the right and left.
  5. Verify that the voltage between steering angle sensor terminals A and B (ground) is as indicated in the figure.

  6. Switch the ignition off.
  7. Connect the plus (+) end of a tester to steering angle sensor terminal C and the minus (-) end of the tester to terminal B (ground).
  8. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
  9. Turn the steering wheel to the right and left.
  10. Verify that the voltage between steering angle sensor terminals C and B (ground) is as indicated in the figure.
