EGR Control Inspection

EGR CONTROL INSPECTION
- Connect the Special Service Tools (SST)s New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector-2.
- Start the engine and let it idle.




- Select the SIMULATION TEST function on the NGS display.
- Increase the duty value of EGR solenoid valve (vacuum) from 0% to 100% by using the "EGRVAC". Operate the EGR solenoid valve (vacuum) and check if the engine speed becomes unstable or the engine stalls.
- If the engine speed will not change, stop the engine and do as follows.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Verify that diagnostic trouble code No. P1485, P1486 is not displayed. If code No. P1485, P1486 is shown, carry out troubleshooting of the code No. P1485, P1486.
- Increase the duty value of the EGR solenoid valve (vacuum) from 0% to 100% by using the "EGRVAC". Operate the EGR solenoid valve and check if operation sound of the valve is heard.
- If the operation sound is heard, check the following.
- Loose or damaged vacuum hose
- EGR valve
- EGR solenoid valve (vent)
- If the operation sound is not heard, check the EGR solenoid valve (vacuum).
