Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

WARNING:
^ Before performing this test, unplug injector harness connector.
^ Do not disconnect distributor 6-pin connector.

1. Remove distributor, leaving wiring harness attached.
2. Connect Mazda SST Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness (or aftermarket equivalents).
3. Turn ignition "ON" and measure output voltage while turning distributor drive by hand.
4. NE 1 signal voltage should pulse between 0V and approximately 5V six times per distributor revolution. It is measured at PCME terminal 3E.
5. G signal voltage should pulse between 0V and approximately 5V once per distributor revolution. It is measured at PCME terminal 3G.
6. After inspection, install distributor and set timing to 9 - 11° BTDC. Tighten mounting bolt to 14 - 18 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
