Ignition Timing: Adjustments

Fig. 18 Disabling vacuum advance:





1. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Turn all electric loads OFF.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum control unit and plug the hose Fig. 18.
4. Connect a tachometer to the engine and check the idle speed.

IDLE SPEED: 800-900 rpm.

5. Connect a timing light to the engine.
6. Check the ignition timing.

INITIAL IGNITION TIMING: 11°- 13° BTDC.

7. If the ignition timing is not within specification, loosen the distributor body installation bolts and adjust.
