July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Alternator Output Test: 626

  1. Connect ammeter and voltmeter to vehicle. See Fig 1. With ignition off, check voltage between terminal "L" and ground. If reading is not zero volts, alternator is defective. Turn ignition on and check voltmeter reading.
  2. If reading is zero volts, wiring or alternator are defective. If reading is close to battery voltage, ground alternator F" terminal. See Fig 1. Note voltmeter reading. If reading is lower than battery voltage, IC regulator is defective. Perform NO-LOAD VOLTAGE TEST.
