Fuel Rail: Installation

NOTE: During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.
  1. NOTE: The upper and lower fuel injector O-ring seals are similar in appearance, but are not interchangeable.
    NOTE: Make sure that new fuel injector O-ring seals are installed.

    Install the new fuel injector O-ring seals and the fuel injector retaining clips onto the fuel injectors. Lubricate the new fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil. Refer to: Specifications 3.7L Duratec .

  2. Install the fuel injectors into the fuel rail.

  3. Install the fuel rail, then install and tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  4. Connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

  5. Connect the fuel rail fuel feed tube. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings 3.7L Duratec .

  6. Install the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold 3.7L Duratec .
  7. Reconnect the battery. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  8. Pressurize the fuel system. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release 3.7L Duratec .
