Vehicle Dynamics Module

Air suspension Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) is located in trunk, behind package tray. VDM receives input signals from various sensors. Air suspension control module uses sensor inputs to maintain desired vehicle riding height when vehicle is moving or stopped.

Desired riding height is accomplished by opening or closing air spring solenoids. VDM operates air compressor through air compressor relay or opens vent solenoid in response to input signals from height sensors. VDM uses a 45 second averaging interval to determine when compress and vent operations are needed. Door switch signals can override 45 second averaging interval so compress and vent operations can begin immediately, if needed. To eliminate chance of catching a door on a curb as vehicle vents down, VDM will not allow any venting to occur when door is open.

VDM also controls amount of power steering assist. Vehicle speed input comes from front via Module Communication Network. VDM output activates power steering actuator to vary hydraulic flow through power steering rack.
