Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor

The ECT, threaded into intake manifold water jacket directly above water pump by-pass hose, monitors and signals ECA of water temperature. The ECA uses these signals for mixture enrichment during cold operation, ignition timing, and EGR operation.
