Diagnostic Tester Procedure

  1. Warm engine to operating temperature. Plug tester into diagnostic connector and check timing.
    NOTE: Just off idle, the injection pump timing may retard slightly and then advance. This reaction is normal.
  2. If the timing is incorrect, stop engine. Loosen the mounting bolts of the injection pump and install Injection Pump Rotating Tool (T84P-9000-B) and bracket. See Fig 1 & Fig 2 .

  3. Start the engine and turn the injection pump. Rotate the pump toward the engine to advance the timing or rotate away from the engine to retard the timing.
  4. After adjustment, retighten the mounting bolts and nuts in the following sequence: nut on inside of front flange near engine, nut on outside of front flange, then rear bolts.
