Injection Pump Housing Fuel Pressure

Install 0-160 psi (0-11.25 kg/cm² ) pressure gauge at the banjo fitting of the fuel return line. See Fig 1 . Install tachometer and start engine. Check pressure.

NOTE: For the model VP-20 fuel injector pump, the maximum allowable pressure is 145 psi (10.2 kg/cm² ).

Incorrect pump pressures may be caused by clogged fuel lines (usually indicated by high internal pressure) or restricted fuel filter or internal pump problems (low internal pressure). If the pump is responsible for the problems, it must be replaced.
